About the Opportunity:

John Paul College are currently seeking a dedicated Compliance Manager to uphold our commitment to excellence in regulatory compliance and risk management.

This key role within the Business Operations team will take responsibility the complete scope of compliance and risk management processes at John Paul College.

This role will require the successful candidate to implement and maintain frameworks to manage risk and compliance obligations across various areas, including regulatory compliance, reporting, child protection, college policies, risk management, work health and safety, and volunteer/contractor management.

Some of the responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Providing strategic support and advice to the Director of Business Operations and other College Executive across reporting, governance, legislation, risk, audit, and compliance.
  • The development, review, and maintenance of compliance systems and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory record and reporting requirements, including WH&S, fire safety, child protection, and privacy
  • Attendance to the clerical aspects of the College’s annual compliance calendar and supporting the enaction of compliance tasks required of College Executive, Senior Leadership and middle managers.
  • Preparation of reports for senior management, governance committees and the Board.
  • Leading the College's compliance with student safety policies and codes of conduct.
  • Contributing to management of the College’s Policy Library.
  • Overseeing Oversee work health and safety operations at the College including the risk management strategies and systems.
  • Chairing the College's Work Health and Safety Committee.
  • Promoting a culture of compliance and proactive risk management across the College community.
  • Volunteer and Contractor management.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

You are someone who has a proven record of advising, supporting, and coaching a diverse range of staff on best practice compliance and risk management strategies.

Your exceptional interpersonal skills enable you to consult, negotiate, and effectively interact with Executive team members, colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders. Your ability to manage diverse relationships is unparalleled.

You are experienced in using and managing risk management software platforms, with expertise in Synergetic and SEQTA considered advantageous. You are proficient in the use of MS Office products and navigate digital tools with ease, enhancing your efficiency in executing tasks.

You will have obtained Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Law, Risk Management, Governance, Education leadership or equivalent are desirable. Post graduate qualifications in these areas will be highly regarded but are not essential.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • A deep understanding of Australian Risk Management Standards, Work Health and Safety Legislation, and Compliance Frameworks and Systems. While knowledge within the context of a Queensland Independent School is desirable, it's not mandatory.
  • A commitment to undertaking appropriate research and professional development to stay informed about compliance and risk management practices in the independent education sector.
  • Initiative and autonomy in prioritizing tasks, ensuring efficient and effective management of responsibilities.
  • A high level of confidentiality and discretion, you handle sensitive information with utmost care and professionalism.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills allow you to balance regulatory compliance with organizational objectives seamlessly.
  • An understanding and commitment to the John Paul College Strategic Vision, translating it into practical day-to-day practices.
