Job Description

About the Role:

As a Diverse Learning Teacher Aide, you will:

  • Provide tailored learning support to students with diverse educational needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, and gifted learners.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and classroom strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Support students in developing literacy, numeracy, and life skills through structured programs and one-on-one assistance.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure an inclusive and effective learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, resource preparation, and student supervision.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to encourage confidence, independence, and resilience in their learning.
  • Contribute to the wellbeing of students by providing emotional and social support as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the values of John Paul College in all interactions.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting student learning and wellbeing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • The ability to adapt and respond to individual student needs in a flexible and patient manner.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based learning strategies and differentiation techniques.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
  • A paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Relevant qualifications in Education Support, Special Education, or a related field.

Working Conditions

  • The hours of work will be as follows: Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:15pm with a 40-minute unpaid meal break each day for a total of 7.6 hours per day.
  • The contracted hours per fortnight are 76 hours per fortnight during term time only.
  • Rest pauses, Term dates, Professional development days are all detailed in the Agreement.
