This is a casual role and working hours can be flexible to suit your existing personal commitments.
About the Role
Boarding Supervisors at John Paul College play a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and structured residential environment for our boarding students. Working as part of a committed team, Boarding Supervisors are directly responsible for the welfare, personal development, and academic support of students in our Boarding Village.
This role involves active and positive supervision of young people, participation in boarding life, and collaboration with staff and families to ensure the wellbeing of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide active, positive supervision across daily routines, recreational activities, study sessions, and co-curricular events.
- Actively support students' emotional wellbeing and personal development, building trusting relationships while upholding firm, fair boundaries that help them thrive.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive boarding environment, upholding student protection and duty of care responsibilities at all times.
- Ensure the security and wellbeing of boarders.
- Supervise unwell students and liaise with health staff as needed.
Academic Support
- Encourage and support students in managing their academic responsibilities.
- Supervise study sessions and assist with homework routines.
- Monitor academic concerns and refer to the Head of Boarding or teaching staff where required.
Health, Wellbeing & Safeguarding
- Promote healthy routines, hygiene, and self-care practices.
- Support students’ health needs in liaison with the College Nurses and Head of Boarding.
- Respond to student wellbeing concerns with discretion and compassion.
- Be familiar with and implement emergency procedures including fire safety, evacuation, and lockdown.
Record Keeping & Communication
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, wellbeing, and daily events using College systems (e.g., Reach and SEQTA).
- Communicate promptly and professionally with students, staff, and families.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required.
Operations & Additional Duties
- Drive College vehicles (including minibuses) to support student transport for appointments, outings, and events.
- Assist with the smooth running of daily routines, meals, and evening activities.
- Contribute to a team culture of reliability, positivity, and respect.
About the Role/s
- Casual positions available
- Shifts include a rotating roster of mornings, evenings, weekends, and potential for occasional overnight/on-call duties
- Based at the JPC Boarding Village
Essential Requirements
- A current paid Blue Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Open Driver Licence with a safe driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow routine procedures
