About the Opportunity

John Paul College (JPC) is looking for a passionate and experienced person to join our Kindergarten as an Inclusion Support Learning Assistant.

This is an exciting part-time contract, working Monday – Friday, from 9am – 2pm each day until the end of Term 4, 2026. We are seeking an individual who is dedicated to fostering inclusive and nurturing environments for young learners.

About the Role

As a Kindergarten Inclusion Support Learning Assistant at JPC, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the diverse needs of our children and families. Working alongside our classroom teachers, the role will provide targeted support to children with additional needs, helping them thrive in our inclusive early learning environment.

The successful candidate can expect to be directly involved in:

  1. Support Inclusion:
    • Assist in preparing, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate programs for individual children or groups, with a focus on inclusion.
    • Work as an additional member of the learning assistant team to enhance support for children with high needs.
    • Share daily responsibilities to support the participation of all children in all program aspects, interacting with and supporting children with high needs.
  2. Collaborating with the Learning Assistant Team:
    • Work closely with your team to clarify daily roles, implement strategies, and ensure smooth program delivery.
    • Record observations of individual children or groups to assist in program planning.
    • Assist in directing and mentoring untrained employees.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes.
  3. Implementing Inclusive Practices:
    • Assist in implementing the ‘Strategies’ and ‘Actions’ identified in the Individualised Education Program (IEP) to ensure individual children are accessing the program and addressing barriers to inclusion.
    • Foster collaboration and discussion among team members to ensure the daily roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.
  4. Engaging with Families:
    • Communicate the role of the Inclusion Support Learning Assistant to families, emphasizing the inclusive approach that benefits all children.
    • Provide insights to families about the importance of inclusion and how it positively impacts their child's development.

About You

The Kindergarten Inclusion Support Learning Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the diverse needs of our children and families as you work collaboratively with a passionate team to build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

You will hold a Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or equivalent) and will be able to demonstrate the high-quality interpersonal skills required to foster inclusive and nurturing environments.

The ideal candidate will be available 5 hours per day, five days per week, for this contract opportunity.

The knowledge, experience, and practical skills you have from a similar role will be beneficial to ensure our ongoing compliance with all service policies and procedures in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations.

In accordance with current Government requirements and mandates, successful applicants must be able to undertake employment screening for child-related employment which include maintaining a positive blue card whilst employed at the College.
