About the Opportunity

John Paul College are excited to share that our Boarding Village is looking for a professional, friendly, and student-focused Residential Boarding Supervisor to join us in our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for our boarding students.

The ideal candidate will be a genuine, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working collaboratively and who values the support they provide for the health and wellbeing of students and staff. A successful candidate will make a positive contribution to our Boarding Facility, Fenton Village, and the team, by being a good communicator, flexible, approachable, and well-organised.

This is a fixed-term, part-time contract working term-time only, from January to November 2027, averaging 20 to 25 hours per week. On-campus accommodation is provided as part of the role.

About the Role

Residential Boarding Supervisors play a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and structured environment for our boarding students. Working as part of a committed team, you will be directly responsible for the welfare, personal development, and academic support of students in our Boarding Village, while residing on campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide active, positive supervision across daily routines, recreational activities, study sessions, and co-curricular events.
  • Support students' emotional wellbeing and personal development, building trusting relationships with firm, fair boundaries.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment, upholding student protection and duty of care responsibilities at all times.
  • Supervise unwell students and liaise with health staff as needed.
  • Participate in the Boarding on-call roster, responding to student and facility needs outside rostered hours.

Academic Support

  • Supervise study sessions, assist with homework routines, and refer academic concerns to the Head of Boarding or teaching staff.

Health, Wellbeing and Safeguarding

  • Promote healthy routines, hygiene, and self-care, in liaison with the College Nurses and Head of Boarding.
  • Respond to wellbeing concerns with discretion and compassion.
  • Implement emergency procedures including fire safety, evacuation, and lockdown.

Record Keeping and Communication

  • Maintain accurate records using College systems (e.g., Reach and SEQTA).
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with students, staff, and families.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.

Operations and Additional Duties

  • Drive College vehicles (including minibuses) for student appointments, outings, and events.
  • Assist with daily routines, meals, and evening activities.
  • Contribute to a team culture of reliability, positivity, and respect.

Role Details

  • Fixed-term, part-time contract during term-time only: January to November 2027
  • 20 to 25 hours per week, with the set schedule to be determined with candidate at time of appointment, rostered across any of the 7 days of the week, including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • On-campus accommodation included: Private room and ensuite in a shared accommodation.
  • Participation in an on-call roster required

  • A current paid Blue Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Open Driver Licence with a safe driving record
  • Willingness to live on campus and participate in the on-call roster
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow routine procedures
  • Experience working with young people is desirable
